Music stars go in search of their look-alikes as #MTNCelebdouble begins selection

Music stars go in search of their look-alikes as #MTNCelebdouble begins selection

MTN Ambassadors are generating excitement among the youth, especially the followers of the entertainment industry, as the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Iyanya, Kcee, Don Jazzy, Praiz, Tiwa Savage, Chidinma, iMike and Harrysong  go in search of their look-alikes. Supported by the largest ICT company in Africa, the initiative will give the over 70,000,000 youth population an opportunity to share the spotlight with some of the finest musical superstars in the country. In addition, a VIP treat and invitations to exclusive youth parties, with the celebrities in attendance, are already in place for the look-alikes and fans. Continue...

Speaking with one of the artistes, Iyanya Mbuk, he said “the objective of this youth-centric, entertaining initiative is to connect the teeming youth population, who cherish stardom and have been supportive, with their favourite artistes as well as help fans in general bond with the music industry in Nigeria”.

The “Kukere” master further mentioned that the selection, which has already begun, is taking place on MTN Twitter handle, Facebook page and Instagram account because the company has the largest subscriber base and technology that will make the process smoother and effective.

He therefore urged interested youths to be part of this laudable project by tagging their pictures with their look-alike artiste names and follow each entry with hashtag #MTNCelebdouble. More so, the Project Fame winner mentioned that the procedure includes subscription for any of the artistes Callertunez.

In a bid to generate more excitement, the artistes have decided that the top two most look-alikes, for each of the artistes, will be selected for an all-expenses paid VIP day with the full perks of being a star at an exclusive location before a once-in-a-lifetime party at three clubs spread across the western and eastern regions of Nigeria. Information gathered further reveals that the parties which will take place on the same day will have an even spread of the superstars and their look-alikes.

In a separate interview, another artiste, Don Jazzy reiterated that the initiative is one of several ways he and the other superstars plan to reward the teeming Nigerian youth for their passion and consistency in supporting the indigenous music industry.

Boko Haram: 10 lessons from Biafra

NIGERIANS have continued to be inundated with the ever chilly tales of the deaths of scores of innocent citizens on daily basis in the hands of Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East.
The way out of this trouble has obviously become the pre-occupation of many having realized that it is better to think and proffer solutions than fold arms and blame the government in newspaper publications, demonstrations and public statements.
The Buni Yadi massacre of FGC students left so much bad taste in the                                                             mouth and evoked in me memories of the Nigeria civil war which started when I was barely 10 years old. In those 30 months of my boyhood marred by war which I luckily survived, there are experiences to be shared for the benefit of the children and parents living in the northeastern part of Nigeria now traumatized by Boko Haram.
There are also memories that can benefit the military leaders fighting Boko Haram insurgency even when it has come from an ordinary civilian who experienced war as a boy. Yes, Nigeria fought a civil war for 30 months at the end of which the secession of the former Eastern Region (Biafra) was brutally stopped. The objective was to keep the country one and the end justified all the means employed.
In relation to the current insurgency which now has all the trappirigs of real war, the first lesson to be drawn from the civil war was the Federal Government’s galvanization of the entire citizenry against the people of Biafra with a slogan devoid of ethnic or religious colouration…To keep Nigeria one.’ To defeat Biafra, therefore, became a movement keyed in to by all Nigerians other than those on the side of secessionist Biafra. This national consciousness was the most lethal weapon in the hands of Gen. Yakubu Gowon and his military. In the current war against terror, national consciousness against Boko Haram is yet to emerge despite the unending bloodshed. It is probably because some Nigerians seem to see the problem as Goodluck Jonathan’s challenge and which they pray becomes the albatross that will make him abandon power. Others who are saddened by the deaths of fellow Nigerian citizens in the Northeast look forward to seeing a non partisan and humanitarian movement against the insurgency that will draw them in and add strength and grassroots appeal to what the residency is doing.
Crushing momentum
With the two positions, it means the level of national consciousness needed to confront and defeat Boko Haram is not yet crystallized. Even as I commend the current achievements of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah who has since relocated to Bornu State, we need from all Nigerians a heart that will generate a consciousness with crushing momentum against Boko Haram.
The second lesson from the civil war is the seeming poor awareness of the civilian population in the Boko Haram affected zone of the monumental dangers they face. This was unlike the situation in Biafra where internal propaganda sensitized everyone of the imminence of death in the hands of “vandals”. The popular radio jingle still engraved in my brain was: a time of genocide is a time for vigilance; Biafra be vigilant! Consequent upon this, people were engaged in dog sleep (i.e. with one eye open). Even as a primary five pupil in 1967, we were taught how to dive for cover, how to shield from bullet and how to craw! to safety in the face of attack from land or air. We were clearly tutored to understand that to run was to DIE. Our mothers were taught not to look for their children but save their lives first. Family bunkers where members hid during air raids were constructed. With these, we survived many bomb attacks.
It is doubtful if our citizens facing the wrath of Boko Haram in the northeast villages have been exposed to some current trainings considering how they react to attacks and the consequential death tolls. They should be trained to expect sudden attack and advised on how to respond whenever it happens.
Apparent  injury
The third lesson is the evacuation of people in danger of apparent injury to safety. As a boy in 1968, I lived with people who were evacuated from war endangered communities of Biafra including people from Udi and Nsukka in the present day Enugu state and Ogoni from the present day Rivers State.
One therefore wonders why people in border communities of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states being massacred by Boko Haram daily cannot be evacuated to safe refugee camps. If Biafra could do it in 1967, obviously Nigeria can in 2014. Besides securing the endangered people, it affords the military and intelligence organs the opportunity of appropriately executing their offensive without fear of unnecessary casualties.
The fourth lesson is the protection of school children as much as practicable from disasters consequent upon war strife or civil commotion. This is necessary because the children are the future who will grow to rebuild the city destroyed by wars fought by parents. When air raids on Biafra territory became too severe in 1968, schools were closed to protect the children of Biafra and when they were reopened in 1969 children and their teachers studied under tree shades instead of the highly exposed school premises. The emphasis was the protection of the children. With the vicious Boko Haram operating in the north east of the country and focusing on soft targets, schools should be closed and children relocated to areas where safety , may be guaranteed until normalcy returns.
The fifth lesson bothers on military strategy. In our boy soldiering, we were thought to blow the bridge of disaster and I want to believe this is a long tested operational pattern in warfare. With Boko Haram operating from along our borders with Chad and Cameroun Republics, the borders should be closed. This cuts off the enemy’s supply line and weakens the operational capacity of members within the national boundaries.
The sixth lesson is the need for the military to leverage on native intelligence. Intelligence by the natives of various communities was the cornerstone of Biafran military intelligence. In every community, the good and the bad are well known by the people. Indigenes and strangers can be differentiated and movements interpreted. With careful investigation, it may be that communities severely attacked by Boko Haram in the North-East have bad leadership which led their youth into deviant behavior of joining the insurgent group. The attack may well represent a punitive payback on such community leaders.
THE seventh lesson is the special role the sacrifice made by indigenes of communities in military service played in the survival of such communities during the civil war. Biafran soldiers were allowed the priviledge of electing to lead the defence of their towns and villages in the face of enemy invasion. The local communities usually collaborated effectively with their sons who would do everything to save their kith and kin from calamity. I continue to wonder how a soldier who hails from one of the Borno State
villages affected by the Boko Haram attacks and serving in Lagos would feel hearing that not less than a hundred of his kinsmen perhaps including his parents, brothers and sisters have been massacred. He certainly would have loved to play a role in saving them given the opportunity.
The eighth lesson is the necessity of seeking the collaboration and support of foreign powers. To defeat Biafra, Nigeria got the support of such countries as Britain, USSR (Russian) and USA. The propaganda oozing out of this global support helped to bring Biafra to its knees. In the face of Boko Haram insurgency, Nigeria may seek the support and collaboration of countries that have economic ties with it.
The nineth lesson is the possibility of hiring foreign experts (war mercenaries) to assist our military in certain areas of special need. Most of the military pilots that flew fighter jets during the civil war were expatriates and since we are now faced with a special kind of enemy, people with special skills may be recruited from outside the shores of Nigeria.
The tenth lesson is the necessity of keeping discussion and negotiation with the enemy ongoing. Nigeria never abandoned any opportunity of dialoging with Biafra much as her military was on an assault mission. As faceless as Boko Haram is, the government of Nigeria should continue to seek its face. Hopefully, it would be found someday.
The above lessons from Biafra are for the authorities to consider in line with current and peculiar trends in the Boko Haram insurgency. Beyond this expectation, ordinary Nigerians together with non-governmental, faith-based and corporate organizations should address the humanitarian fallouts of the terrorism challenge. Counter terrorism in this regard means national solidarity with victims of Boko Haram insurgency devoid of unnecessary politicization and driven by freewill gifts of cash, food, clothing and shelter. To show such concern will no doubt strengthen our nationhood which Boko Haram seeks to destroy. Meanwhile, the world is watching our behavior.

How You Dress Shows The Respect You Have For Yourself As A Woman- Onyeka Onwenu

How You Dress Shows The Respect You Have For Yourself As A Woman- Onyeka Onwenu

I do not encourage women to dress in a manner that is provocative. No, that is not acceptable to me, because it shows the kind of respect you have for yourself. Never mind the person looking, because above everything else, people address you the way you dress. How you dress shows the degree of respect you have for yourself as a woman.

At the same time, if it is not a crime, it does not give you the right to me (woman). So if you rape me (woman) because I am wearing a short skirt, you are still going to the prison. I hope you understand me very well. I am not advocating that women should expose their body, but I do not think anyone can use that as an excuse to rape a woman.

A 27-year old security guard, Joy Amodu has been arrested by the Police in Lagos, for beating her 10-year old niece, Foziya Danjuma to coma.

According to the police, the suspect after beating up the girl inserted Aboniki balm, (methyl salicylate ointment) into her private parts and eyes. She later became unconscious and she was rushed to the hospital by Joy. The little girl was rejected at the first two hospitals she was rushed too, but was later admitted at Ikoyi Military hospital, where a good samaritan saw the situation of the girl and alerted an NGO who reported Joy to the police.

She was picked up and confessed to the crime, stressing that she had to do that because her father left her in her care and she has been warning her to stop bedwetting because she is too old for it. The police later found out that, Foziya’s father made her live with joy when she complained of a strange illness and loneliness pleading with him that she needed a companion.

Joy will soon be arraigned in court, but their family has stepped into this, insisting it is a family matter and should be settled the family way. Police are however saying because the girl is a minor, they will leave it to Government to decide if it should be treated as a family matter or not.

TOP 5 Reasons You Should Never Ask A Man Out

TOP 5 Reasons You Should Never Ask A Man Out

Submitted by FAWOMO
I’ve heard it before… It’s the 21st century! Gender roles don’t exist anymore! Women can play the role of men! Bla, bla, bla.
But don’t forget that while our mothers and our grandmothers didn’t have the opportunities we have today, they did have something going for them – They well understood their role! And no, not in the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant. I mean, humble, meek, strong, not pushy, passive, yet passionate.

Hence, when any Nigerian woman sees an attractive man, she should hold back from approaching him. She is the crown jewel. The man should come and seek his prize! But just incase this is not good enough reason for you, here are 5 more!

1. What if he’s CRAZY? DERANGED??
Let’s say you see this hottie across the way. He’s got the entire package: heightened stature, darkened complexion, toned physique. Whew! You decide to quit with the BS! ‘I’m a good catch too!’ you think to yourself. He needs a woman like me in his life. So you step to him. He is humbled when you speak first. He laughs it off and seems almost embarassed by your action. When you ask him for the digits, he rattles them off. You walk away because that’s the only thing left to do. You call, he answers. You go out, he’s cool. Then, one day, you find out he has baby momma drama, a reposessed car, a foreclosed home, plus, he’s just plain CRAZY!
Now, look back. Don’t you wish you hadn’t said a mumbling word?

2. Let a man be a man!
I know that’s difficult sometimes. Because, for one, men don’t always know how to be men (can I get an AMEN!). But that’s okay. You need to let them learn. Don’t be their mother. Don’t attempt to teach them. And check this: if he’s the right kind of man. I’m talkin about the man you need, then guess what? He’s already got his mind’s gears grinding up a way to snag you girl! He’s just patiently seeking the right opportunity.

3. It definitely makes YOU look desperate.
Sorry. But in my years of existence I have never seen a woman approach a man and not seem like one of these 3 things:
Aggressive
Pushy
Desperate
Maybe you’ve got the testicular fortitude of a Samantha Jones. Now she could pull it off. But if your goal is not to wind up doing the horizontal hokey pokey at the end of the night, then you’re not Sam at all. You’re probably more of a Miranda Hobbs. An eternal feminist who, at the end of the day, still wants and needs love just like the rest of us. So, know your role, and leave the aggression to the men.

4. So, are you the man now?
I just want to know, if you made the first move, and you’re satisfied with it, are you now going to lead him around for the rest of the relationship? Will you pick him up for the first date? Doubt it. Are you ready to pick up the tab for the evening? Pull out his chair, etc. Forgive the facetiousness, but I seriously doubt it. You will soon grow tired of taking the lead and making the decisions. But hell, you’ve already set the precedent. Gotta be consistent, right? Is that not what we want from them?

5. Is he that into you?
Ladies, if you made the decision for the man, to place yourself in his life, how do you know if he is even interested? He may be down for the ride initially, but what will really come from you having initiated the courtship? You may feel confident and sure of yourself, but at this point, he certainly isn’t. You know that men can easily become insecure when their man hood is threatened. And easily confused when you take away what they are most certain of. Furthermore, if he was not interested in approaching you, then let him stay that way. Is it really worthwhile to force him into feeling you?
Do feel free to disagree with me in your comments but ladies and gentlemen, for women that are seriously considering a relationship with the gentleman they meet, never ask him out unless all you want is just to flirt.

Greed and things of the flesh are really controlling some men who call themselves pastors:The Pastor of Christ Citizen Glorious Assembly, Okota, Lagos, Pastor Ikechukwu Ezeiru, has been charged in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court with fraud. He was arraigned on Tuesday for allegedly defrauding a member of his church, Ifeanyi Ohazurume, of N7m.

The police said Pastor Ezeiru collected the money with the claim that he wanted to help Ifeanyi purchase fake auction goods from the Nigerian Customs Service. He didn’t return the money or the goods.

He started "playing" the guy around. It was learnt that the pastor claimed to have given the money to his wife. He wife too claimed she passed the money to someone else....

He was arraigned on three counts of obtaining under false pretences and stealing. The charge reads in part:
“That you, Pastor Ikechukwu Ezeiru, and others at large, sometime in the month of February, 2012, at about 10.00hours at First Bank Plc, Okota branch, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire to commit felony to wit: obtaining property by false pretences and stealing.

“That you on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid magisterial district, did obtain the sum of N7m from one Ifeanyi Ohazurume, under the pretext that you are in position to help him buy auction goods from Nigerian Customs Service, a representation you knew to be false.”

The police prosecutor, George Nwosu, who represented the resident prosecutor, DSP Etim Ekankuk, said the offences were punishable under sections 409 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, Nigeria, 2011.

The Pastor pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial. The defence counsel, Razak Adeyemi, applied for his bail in liberal terms.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Demi Ajayi, adjourned the case to April 16, 2014. Pastor Ezeiru was admitted to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. His church member, Ifeanyi, is said to be in shock as he never believed such act could come from his pastor.

I dont enjoy any special benefits as an MFR- Chinedu Ikedieze

Nollywood actor, Chinedu Ikedieze popularly known as Aki who got conferred with the MFR title by President Jonathan in July 2010 says the national title does not come with any visible benefits to him. Aki in a chat with Yes! magazine this week said there is no monetary value or special benefits to the title as obtained in western countries.
"The only joy in it is the recognition. When I am traveling and I get to the Airport, I get special preference and recognition. Apart from that, I don't get any other thing. I don't get paid, I don't get any special benefits as an MFR. As an MFR, I hold the same position with some of those who are Members of the British Empire (MBE) and they have some special benefits in the international community and honourary recognitions but those things are not here" he said.
Aki was also asked if he ever wonders why he was created in the form he is. His answer after the cut..
"Am I the one that created myself? Why would I ask myself such a question? You can only ask such a question when you are frustrated about life or if you are tired of life. But in my own case I am not. When you wake up in the morning and you have something to eat, you have people who can smile at you and you smile back  as well, then what else do you need? Then you go to bed, you sleep and you seldom go to the hospital, so which other gift is more important than that? As far as I am concerned, that is the greatest gift. There are some people who have all the money, cars, houses and all the things they want, but they are sick. They don't enjoy the money. So the perfect gift for me is good health".

In a recent interview with the NETng, Kuchi Kuchi crooner, Jodie Odiete says she has never had any sexual experience. Jodie was asked what her take was on sexual relationships and she said;
"Personally to me it is wrong because I am not married. I am not condemning those who do it, this is just my personal opinion. I really should not have an opinion on sex because I don't have any experience. Sex means nothing to me so I can't get into any relationship just because of that"
About her dream man, Jodie said;
"I want a man that is my friend. Someone who would stand by me and be there for me. It is hard to find a friend in this dangerous world we live in so I need a friend. My friend should or would be the totality of me. With your friend in your life, there would be a large room of compatibility. To sum it up, instead of saying he should be tall, dark, short, slim, fat and all, he should be my friend, one I can relate with without inhibition".
