The European Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee has raised questions about Portuguese Commissioner Elisa Ferreira, as the former vice-governor of Banco de Portugal holds shares in the Sonae group.
Parliamentary sources have told Lusa that the name of Elisa Ferreira has not yet had the 'green light' from the MEPs and the future Portuguese Commissioner has to answer the questions raised until 25 September, next Wednesday.
Until 27 September, the MEPs of the Legal Affairs Committee will analyze the response and will make a decision, which will be referred to the committee that will hear Elisa Ferreira.
This implies, in practice, that Elisa Ferreira must sell the shares she owns in Sonae, the sources said.
The Legal Affairs Committee met this morning on the margins of the plenary session of the European Parliament, which took place in the French city of Strasbourg.
