The One Thing All Marriages Really Need

A marriage will not survive without several key ingredients. God’s guidance, a spiritual connection, love, commitment, sacrifice, and trust are just a few of those necessary elements that all go without saying. If any of them are missing, trust me, the relationship will suffer greatly. All of what is mentioned above is within each individual’s control.

In marriage, we are usually aware of all the right things to do, sometimes we might just choose to do something different. This is exactly why this one thing I am going to recommend is so important.

The one thing that all marriages need is other couples or people to hold them accountable.

Accountability and being challenged to make smarter decisions is what every person in a committed partnership needs. It’s easy to get caught up and find ourselves in situations we later regret. If we had someone who believed in the sanctity of marriage to remind us and coach us into being a better spouse and creating a stronger marriage, the greater our relationships would be.

Can you imagine the impact on the following scenarios if someone we trusted held us accountable?

Can you imagine if a married man who is tempted to cheat on his wife had one of his friends in his ear reminding him about how good being committed to his wife is going to feel. Or what if that friend told him to consider his family and what he stands to lose by cheating or to consider the regrets he would have if he makes the choice. Of course that man might still cheat, because people ultimately do what they want, but this type of accountability might make someone think twice.

If a married woman completely stopped trying in her marriage, but had her sister in her ear nudging her to put forth a greater effort and reminding her that her marriage needs her to show up, do you think that could change things? What if that sister was telling her that she deserves happiness and that it could be had in her marriage, do you think she would try harder? I think so.

What if a couple just couldn’t get their marriage back on track after going through a storm, but had another couple to minister to them, pray with them and challenge them to seek help, do you think things could shift? I think so.

Our marriages won’t benefit by having people in our lives who won’t hold us accountable. We need people who are going to tell us the truth, whether we like it or not. Our marriages need support. We must each challenge one another to always bring our “a” game when it comes to our most sacred relationship. Will you be that for someone?

Presidency accuses OBJ of plotting political crisis in order to an head interim government

Following his recent public remarks about the GEJ-led government, the Presidency has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of plotting a political crisis in Nigeria with the intention of forming an interim government which he hopes to head. We find the false claims and allegations reportedly made against President Goodluck Jonathan by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday in Abeokuta very odious and repugnant.  

As we have had cause to say before, it is most regrettable indeed that a man like Chief Obasanjo, who should know better, chooses to repeatedly, wantonly, and maliciously impugn the integrity of a sitting President of his country for the primary purpose of self-promotion. 

It is obvious from Chief Obasanjo’s serial vituperations against President Jonathan who is doing his best to positively transform Nigeria for the benefit of all of its people that he has willfully chosen to close his eyes to the present administration’s good works and intentions. For reasons best known to him, Chief Obasanjo has set his mind on regime change by fair or foul means. 

Otherwise, it would be completely senseless, irrational and out of place for Chief Obasanjo, who still claims to belong to the same party as the President, to accuse President Jonathan of plotting to win the rescheduled presidential elections by “hook or crook” and planning to plunge the nation into crisis if he loses the election. 

For the record, President Jonathan has no such intention and will continue to give the greatest possible support to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant federal agencies to ensure that the rescheduled elections are successfully conducted. 

Indeed, it is not President Jonathan who remains faithful to his oath of office who is trying to plunge Nigeria into crisis, but Chief Obasanjo who is scheming to plunge the country into chaos in pursuit of a selfish and highly egocentric agenda. 

 

Chief Obasanjo’s plot with others within and outside the country to thwart the general elections and foist an unconstitutional Interim National Government, which he hopes to head on the nation is well known to us, but by the Grace of God Almighty, his odious plan to return to power through the back door will fail woefully. 

We know very well that it is in pursuit of this nefarious plot that the former President continues to sow the seeds of discord and crises in the polity by purporting to remain in the ruling party while openly consorting with the opposition, endorsing its candidates and predicting victory for opposition candidates in a manner most unbecoming of a supposed elder statesman. Thankfully, the vast majority of Nigerians who are patriotic and right-thinking cannot be fooled by Chief Obasanjo’s antics.  

We urge them to be assured that President Jonathan's commitment to democracy in all its ramifications remains constant and that he will never be party to the use of any unlawful means to remain in office or gain political advantage over his opponents. 

The President stands by his commitment, which he reaffirmed on national television last Wednesday that on his watch, all elections in Nigeria, will be free, fair and credible, and that all certified election results will be respected. As President Jonathan has also assured the nation, the rescheduling of the general elections was in the best interest of the nation and was never driven by any ulterior motive on the part of government as Chief Obasanjo and others have alleged. 

President Jonathan will continue to put his best efforts into giving Nigeria quality leadership and will not be distracted from his purpose by unwarranted and needless criticism by persons who ought to know better. 

The President also continues to trust in the good judgment of Nigerians and to believe that in appreciation of his sincere efforts to move the country forward over the past four years, they will re-elect him for a second term on March 28, 2015 with a mandate to pursue his agenda for national transformation to a successful conclusion.

Some chibok girls died due to stress......................too bad

After 306 days of Chibok girls’ abduction, 13 parents of those kidnapped by Boko Haram girls have died due to stress-related illnesses.
According to an online report by the Associated Press (AP), there are hundreds of other girls and boys that have been abducted in different villages across the three northeastern states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe since the Chibok incident.
The AP reports that the Boko Haram sect now sees mass kidnappings as a shining symbol of success. Consequently, the militants brag to their new captives about the surrender of the Chibok girls, their conversion to Islam and their marriage to fighters.
A 15-year-old girl, Abigail John, who was held by Boko Haram for more than four weeks before escaping, said that “they told her the Chibok girls have a new life where they learn to fight”. “They said we should be like them and accept Islam,” she added.
Fidgeted Abigail recounted how one fighter, nicknamed ’Tall Arab”, was set on marrying her. She pleaded that she was too young, but was told, “Do you think you are better than those Chibok girls that we kidnapped?”
The man told her the Chibok girls had turned against their parents, and were “ready to slit their parents’ throats” if they ever saw them again.
He added that the the Chibok girls were all Muslims now, and some were training as fighters to fight women, which Boko Haram men are not supposed to do.
She added that when the Nigerian air force dropped a bomb on the house where she and others were confined, she tried to escape. She stated that she wrestled with the fighters, but they broke her arm and hauled her off to another house. However, later she and others were eventually able to escape and made their way to safety, aided by some villagers who saw them.
