Ilkay Gundogan injury bound to affect his performance

Ilkay Gundogan has stated his injury problems will affect his ability to perform at the level he used to perform.
He returned to action for Manchester City in a while, coming off the bench in the 6-0 thrashing of Watford.
Gundogan made just 16 appearances for City last season, after picking up an injury shortly after joining from Dortmund.
And the 26-year-old who later picked up a cruciate ligament tear, has admitted he might not be the same player again.
“There are doubts if I will be again at the level I had before so, of course that is the case,” he said. “Because of these ups and downs, more of the downs, it is sometimes frustrating.
“The doubts are at this point even bigger. But I had no other choice. I am a football player. This is what I do. This is what I have done all my life. This is my job. For me, there was no other choice than to try again.
“If I said I am the same player as I was a year ago, I would be lying. I mean, through the injury, you don’t feel the same. You don’t feel as though you are the most powerful guy in the world – not that I ever did. I had two injuries on my knee and I know what to do to prepare myself for the games and to warm my knee up and be generally fit.
“I will do everything to be as fit as possible. That could be it for all the injuries! I think I am done now! I am ready to continue playing, to keep fit. To enjoy playing.”
“It was a long wait – and tough as well. That is why it feels so special to return,” he said. “I was sad just to watch in front of the TV or in the stands. I am used to playing every three or four days. If an injury takes it away then it is always disappointing and it feels weird.
“To be honest, you don’t feel as part of the group anymore. You are not travelling with the team anymore. You do everything on your own or with the physio. So of course, that is the worst feeling you can have as a football player. So, that is also the reason it was that hard over the months.”
“The worst time was of course the day of the injury or when I knew what exactly happened. When I knew there would be six, seven, eight, nine months out. That was the worst feeling.
“The day after the surgery was not so good either. But then, at one point, you start to do it again. You start to do your rehabilitation. You recover. You have ups and downs, days you feel better, days you feel very bad. I think that is normal. It is not just me.
“I did not have doubts whether I would play anymore. The ACL is a common injury so you have surgery, the doctors know what they are doing. But of course it is long and it is my second knee injury.”

Gay man accused of killing his apprentice for dating woman in Abuja (Pictures)

An artisan, Samarola Musa, has allegedly beaten his apprentice, Ademola Adeshina, to death for his refusal to stop dating a lady in the Lugbe area of Abuja.Musa, who is facing a homicide charge at a Federal Capital Territory High Court, Gwagwalada, Abuja, is believed to have had a homosexual relationship with the 24-year-old man.

It was learnt that an autopsy indicated that Ademola died as a result of the beating he received from Musa.
The report also showed that the furniture maker had sodomised his apprentice before his death in May 2017.
Musa, 42, in his statement to the police, said he slapped the deceased after he caught him having sex with the lady, identified simply as Precious, in his workshop, claiming that Ademola died of malaria a week after the incident.
But Ademola’s father, Okuneye, faulted Musa’s claims, stressing that the son died from the beatings he received from the former bouncer, who he described as a huge man.
He told Punch Metro that Musa had once informed him that Ademola was dating a lady he did not approve of, adding that he warned the deceased to stop going out with the lady.
The bereaved father said his son called him on May 3, two days before his death that he had malaria, adding that he visited him at the workshop and found him working.
“About 48 hours after, I got a text message from Musa asking me to call him back urgently. I did and he simply told me that my son had passed away; I was shocked. He said he was at Asokoro General Hospital and when I got there, I found my son lying in the back seat of his Honda Accord car with his face against the glass window,” he said.
Okuneye said the accused informed him that his son died of malaria and suggested that the body should be buried, but he insisted on depositing it in a morgue.
The engineer explained that after returning home, he received a call from Precious, who narrated to him how Musa beat his son to death.
He said,
“The girl said she witnessed the assault and when she confronted Musa, he injured her in the leg. I asked if she was ready to make a statement at the police station about it and she agreed.
“Musa was arrested and he admitted to beating my boy because he was dating the girl. We did a post-mortem on the body and it showed that Ademola suffered serious internal injury from the beating.
“The autopsy also showed that the boy was sodomised; it was after this that we got to know that Musa is a well known homosexual in Lugbe and its environs; he had been sleeping with my son and he killed him because he was dating a woman.”
Puhnch gathered that the family had made plans to bury the deceased last Saturday, but the police declined to grant them the permission to carry out the funeral.
The accused was remanded in Kuje prisons by the court on Monday, while the case was adjourned till November 20,2017.

Biafra: Buhari Signs Proclamation Proscribing IPOB

In a move to take the heat off the Nigerian Army and ensure that due process is followed, Pres. Buhari has signed a presidential proclamation proscribing IPOB over the group’s involvement in terrorist activities, ThisDay reports.

According to sources in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation, the president signed the declaration on Sunday before his departure for the 72nd United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where he will be expected to address other world leaders today. .
Buhari’s decision to sign the proclamation was a fallout of the sharp criticism that followed the declaration of IPOB as a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian Army at the weekend and the group’s proscription by the South-east governors. .
With the signing of the proclamation by Buhari, a source in the attorney general’s office explained that the presidency had effectively initiated the formal process of proscribing IPOB in accordance with the provisions of the Terrorism (Prevention) Act, 2011. .
It also paved the way for the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) to head to court to give legal backing to the presidential proclamation.

Topic: THE GROUND IS NOT FOR YOU [Tuesday September 19th 2017]
Memorise: For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Proverbs 24:16
Read: Luke 22:31-34 (KJV)
22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:
22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
22:33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.
22:34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
Bible in one year: Ezra 7:8, Ezekiel 43:13-27, Hymn: Sing hymn 4
MESSAGE:
It’s a fact of life that we are all susceptible to making mistakes. However, when we make mistakes, we must have the strength of character to admit our mistakes and also to resolve never to repeat them again (Proverbs 28:13). A child learning to walk will stand up, take a step or two and fall down again. You will observe however that in spite of these falls, he or she does not give up trying. The child will repeatedly make attempts at walking, and in the process of time, the child will not only walk, he or she will also run, leap and jump, all without falling to the ground like before. Do not turn a mistake into your final destination. Can you believe that because some people made a mistake in their walk of faith in Christ, they gave up the race entirely and decided to die there? That is most unfortunate! Some people cannot forgive themselves for either denying Jesus at a very crucial moment when their faith was tested, or for falling  into a particular sin that they have been preaching against all along. Such people need to learn from the example of Apostle Peter, who thrice denied Christ. The Lord had to make him realise that it was not over yet. That same Peter was the one who later led the other disciples in defending their faith in Christ and in propagating the Good News of the gospel around the world.

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.”
Micah 7:8

One lesson from this scripture is that the fact that you slipped and fell does not mean that the enemy has won the battle over your life. He hasn’t. It also says that there is the possibility of a comeback. From where you fell, you shall arise in Jesus’ Name! Your rise shall be more formidable! You may say that your case is a bad one because you have fallen so many times and you therefore concluded that it was better to stop trying. Oh, how wrong you are! Proverbs 24:16 says it is possible for a righteous man to fall seven times and still rise. To fall seven times simply refers to the possibility of falling to a point of experiencing what most people will call the final or ultimate fall. Yet, even at that, if you are a child of God, the Lord says that you should not give up hope. Make another attempt at reconciling with the Lord, confess your weakness to Him, and ask for His help. He will lift you up and He will sustain you afterwards. So are you still on the floor? Arise now!

Key Point: Failing and rising in the Christian faith does not make you a failure, it only shows that you are at the babyhood stage of maturity and would need to trust Jesus Christ the more.

Ebonylife’s Royal Hibiscus Hotel Triumphs With Sold-Out Premiere At TIFF 2017 (PHOTOS)

Ebonylife’s Royal Hibiscus Hotel Triumphs With Sold-Out Premiere At TIFF 2017
Toronto, Canada – The latest production from EbonyLife Films, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel (RHH) debuted to a full house of nearly 500 people on Saturday, September 9th at the Scotiabank Theatre, in Toronto. During a brief Q&A after the film, lucky fans got a chance to meet the cast, including Zainab Balogun, Kenneth Okolie, Rachel Oniga, Jide Kosoko, Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju and Toni Tones, director Ishaya Bako and several members of the production crew. At the end of the presentation, the actors were rushed by guests eager for selfies.
In the run-up to the premiere, the audience had been teased with a trailer, a glowing profile and the fact that The Royal Hibiscus Hotel had been identified as a ‘Hidden Gem’ by Toronto International Film Festival. Many of the attendees were TIFF members and regulars, united in their quest to view diverse African content. Others were familiar with EbonyLife and were yearning to see a new movie from the producers of some of Nigeria’s most successful films.
Variety, the world’s leading magazine for the movie industry, had this to say: “Royal Hibiscus is a polished, crowd-pleasing comedy full of easy laughs from an all-star cast.”
Set in Lagos and London, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel tells the story of a disillusioned London chef, ‘Ope’, who returns to Nigeria and discovers that going home can bring unexpected surprises. As the only Nigerian title and one of only three African feature films, it has attracted so much interest that the remaining two screenings on 11th and 17th September are sold out as well.
Mo Abudu, Executive Producer, is ecstatic about the sold-out premiere and the public response to the other screenings. “The eagerness of fans to see this movie in Toronto is overwhelming and humbling. It shows that people want to enjoy good, quality stories from any part of the world. We are incredibly proud of RHH and so grateful for the love everyone is showing,” she said.
The trip to Toronto was made possible by the kind support of Johnnie Walker, keen to ensure full representation at TIFF for the cast and crew of The Royal Hibiscus Hotel. Their commitment took on new significance when it was discovered that RHH was the only Nigerian film being featured at the festival.
The 2017 edition of The Toronto International Film Festival takes place from September 7-17. The Royal Hibiscus Hotel is scheduled for general release in 2018.

Polyamory… Is This The Future Of Love And Relationships?

Polyamory
What is Polyamory? Polyamory is the practice of or desire for intimate relationships with more than one partner, with the knowledge of all partners.
Is Monogamy going out of style? My answer to this would be no, but i also strongly disagree with the “one size fits all” mentality we as a society have regarding relationships. Some people aren’t suited for the typical monogamous relationship, but because of our “culture” it’s almost an abomination to do differently, so people are trying to fit square pegs into round holes when it comes to relationships.
To be clear, Polyamory is not the same thing as being in an open relationship, Being Polyamorous means having multiple relationships -there isn’t that one central relationship or partner as in an open relationship. It is also not the same thing as Swinging.
Zinnia from Poly Advice puts it like this:
“Polyamory recognizes that love isn’t a zero-sum game and it doesn’t have to be exclusive or fit certain frameworks to be deep, healthy, and fulfilling. It doesn’t assume that someone you click with sexually needs to be the only person you have sex with; or that someone you click with romantically needs to also be the person you live with, and things like that. Polyamory lets each relationship stand on its own terms, define its own boundaries, and meet the needs that it is able to meet, without requiring that a relationship include certain things (like living together) just because it includes other things (like sex).”
Hollywood’s famous Polyamorist, Nico Tortella when quizzed about Polyamory said:
“The fact of the matter is, we’ve only been shown one story since basically the beginning of time and that’s man, woman, and family — and that’s it.”
The idea of a “The One” is a big deal. Most people grow up expecting to meet that one person that is meant for them. We’re taught to desire and seek that one other person, that “soulmate that will make us whole and happy. And supposedly, when we find that person, we will no longer have desires for others.
Dean Spade calls this type of thinking the “romance myth” – the heterosexual monogamous romance that all women should naturally desire. We are in a culture that teaches us that monogamy is right and natural, monogamy is often not a conscious choice for people, but more of a default.
I’m not saying everybody should be polyamorous, but I believe in finding what’s best for you and what works for you and your partner in YOUR OWN relationship. Just as people are born gay, you can argue that some people are born non-monogamous. Some people find comfort in being polyamorous after having difficulty being in monogamous relationships.
Discovering you have the capacity to love more than one person doesn’t mean you have problems, it might just be who you are. Polyamory isn’t for everybody, but neither is Monogamy.

Real Madrid To Make Move For Alexis Sanchez

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has opened talks with Alexis Sanchez’s agent over a summer move, reports Don Balon.
The Chile international is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season and saw a Deadline Day move to Manchester City break down in August.
A £70m move to Manchester City failed to go through on the final day of the summer transfer window as Arsene Wenger’s side failed to secure a replacement, meaning that Alexis Sanchez is now set to depart on a free at the end of the season.
Sanchez spent three seasons with Madrid’s arch rivals Barcelona prior to his switch to the Emirates in 2014.
