All The Ways You Can Freeze And Use Your Overripe Bananas

Bananas are everyone’s favourite fruit but overripe ones are the fear of everyone since they are more or less seen as waste, which we all hate. This fruit is the perfect self-contained healthy snack, and they can be incorporated into different meals including cereals and smoothies.
This perhaps is why a lot of us try to eat them as fast as we can but there are times when some become overripe, spotted, mushy and unappealing. But instead of throwing them away, there are a number of things you can do with overripe bananas. Keep them in the freezer, and thaw them later on to make any of these wonderful recipes.
Making Smoothies
The way you prepare bananas for your smoothies differ with each recipe but if you have overripe bananas, you sure can use them instead of allowing them go to waste. If you’re thinking of making ice cream or smoothies, you can cut your overripe fruits into small bits first except you have a very str
ong blender. Peel off the skin of the bananas and slice to your desired size.
Place the slices in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate, and freeze for about two hours. Transfer the frozen slices to a resealable plastic bag, then label, and date it. When next you’re going to make your smoothie, grab a bag and use your slices as you desire.
Chunky Monkey Pancakes
You can use your overripe fruits to make pancakes. All you need do is mash your bananas before using, but there won’t be a need to mash them before before freezing as you can leave them in larger pieces.

The first thing to do is to start by peeling your bananas, which can make defrosting much easier. Cut the bananas in half or large chunks, and throw them in a resealable plastic bag for later use. You can also use them in making Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins which are easy to blend together with frozen, defrosted banana chunks.
Eating The Whole Banana
If you’re not keen about experimenting in the kitchen, you can simply throw the whole, unpeeled banana directly in the freezer as it comes with its own natural storage container. All you need do is defrost your favourite fruit an hour before eating or baking. Removing the banana from the peel naturally mashes them for your next cooking or baking experiment.

Defrosting your banana whole and unpeeled will help to speed up the mashing process and use them to make Banana Cookies, Crumb Muffins, south cream bread, or banana pancakes.
Mashing To Enjoy
Mashing is a quick and easy way to prepare overripe bananas for freezing, especially if you’re going to use them in recipes that require the use of mashed bananas. All you need do is simply peel and mash the bananas, then scoop the mash into resealable plastic bags that you can store in a freezer.

Squeeze out the extra air, lay the bags on their sides, and freeze them flat. Remember to label the bags with the number of bananas or better yet, the cup measurement. If you choose to make Banana Cake, you will need 1 ½ cups of mashed bananas, Butter Icing, Banana Sorbet and Flavoured Jam.
