President Buharis discussion with worlld Bank Boss Twisted

The Presidency on Friday said the reported discussion between President Muhammadu Buhari and the World Bank Group President, Jim Yong Kim, was deliberately twisted by those who it said specialize in such acts.

Media reports had it that  Kim disclosed in Washington DC, United States of America, that  Buhari had requested a concentration of the bank’s intervention efforts in the northern part of Nigeria.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, in a statement said “ignorant and mischievous people” are making it seem that Buhari’s position was a calculated attempt to give the North an unfair advantage over other parts of Nigeria.

Adesina said the President, since his inauguration had been seeking international support for the rebuilding of the North East which was ravaged by years of insurgency.

He said what Buhari did in calling attention to the plight of the people of the region was what a leader should do.

The presidential spokesman said, “The truth of the matter is that President Buhari, right from his first week in office in June, 2015, had reached out to the G-7 in Germany that Nigeria needed help to rebuild the North-East, which had been terribly devastated by insurgency.
“He said the country would prefer help in terms of rebuilding of infrastructure, rather than cash donation, which may end up being misappropriated. In concert with Governors of the region, a comprehensive list of needed repairs was sent to the G-7 leaders.

“Also, during a trip to Washington in 2015, and many other engagements that followed, President Buhari sought the help of the World Bank in rebuilding the beleaguered North-East, which was then being wrestled from the stranglehold of a pernicious insurgency. “

Two Experimental Ebola Vaccines Show Year-Long Promise

Good News! Two Experimental Ebola Vaccines Show Year-Long Promise

Two experimental vaccines against the Ebola virus have shown promise in protecting against the haemorrhagic fever for at least a year, according to the results of a major clinical trial published Wednesday.

The report in the New England Journal of Medicine is the first full account of a large-scale effort to test what could be the first vaccine against Ebola.

The outbreak of the highly contagious and often deadly virus killed more than 11,000 people, mainly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, as it swept West Africa from late 2013 to 2016.

The phase II study involved 1,500 people in Monrovia, Liberia.

Participants were randomly assigned to receive one of two vaccines being tested, or a placebo.

The vaccine candidates included the frontrunner, rVSV-ZEBOV, initially engineered by Canadian government scientists and now licensed to Merck, Sharp and Dohme Corporation.

The second vaccine candidate was cAd3-EBOZ, co-developed by the US National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases' (NIAID) Vaccine Research Center and GlaxoSmithKline.

Ikpeazu, IPOB And Saving Nigeria From The Brink Of A Civil War

IPOB Spits: Splinter Group ‘TRIPOB’ Vows To Burn Biafra Flag, Recite National Anthem On Oct. 1
Ikpeazu, IPOB And Saving Nigeria From The Brink Of A Civil War, By Mayowa Tijani
I cannot explain the relief I felt on October 4, 2017, when it finally dawned on me that Nigeria’s independence celebrations had actually come and gone across the world and the country was still all intact. The celebrations by individual and institutions worldwide were beautiful, with all the doomsday prophets going silent and cast away in shameful caves.
This piece was written by Mayowa Tijani. The views and opinions expressed here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of 360Nobs.com.
In all my adult life, I have not seen a year as dramatic and precarious for Nigeria as 2017 has been. I really thought 2015 strained the cords of our unity, but 2017 came with more threats to Nigeria’s harmony. Arewa Youths had promised doomsday on October 1. The Nigeria Delta militants assured us retaliation and reprisal attacks. To aggravate the issues, the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) took a pledge to rain brimstones and fire on the Nigerian state.
In my opinion, the federal government did not handle it well. As all these regional tensions raged on, President Muhammadu Buhari sent a voice note to Nigerians, celebrating the end of the Ramadan season in Hausa language. The president’s speech — rather than
douse tensions — added some heat to the polity. The larger section of Nigerians were miffed by the president’s deliberate segregation, and narrowness of response to boiling national issues.
Upon return to the country, the president made another address, where he said Nigeria’s unity is not negotiable. This time around, the president went beyond words to show his leadership as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. Three weeks to the October 1 “doomsday”, we had Operation Python Dance II in place; and in no time, the military was already clashing with civillians in a supposedly democratic country.
As October 1 drew nearer, the tensions got more palpable, and the uncertainty of a country’s unity was playing out in the South-East more than in any other part of the nation.
Averting the Doomsday Crisis
In all of these, very few politicians stood out besides the likes of Yemi Osinbajo, the acting president of the nation at the turbulent time and Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia state, who kept the peace in the midst of a raging storm.
Ikpeazu, particularly, sued for peace, despite every incentive to allow violence to reign. At a time when the Arewa Youths were busy giving ultimatums and IPOB was keen to match violence with violence, the governor emphasised the noblest of messages stressing unity and faith, peace and progress.
For him, there was pressure from the federal authority to handle the Abia crisis like the military was doing, leading to avoidable deaths. There surely was pressure from IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu, who had gained so many foot soldiers in the past two years. There was also pressure from the anti-IPOB camp within the same state. In the midst of all that, Ikpeazu still hosted northern governors and said the nation is one and “we won’t allow an infinitesimal few to separate us”.
Calling for conversations around marginalisation and infrastructural deficiencies in the South-East, the governor still placed necessary attention on Nigeria’s fragile peace.
“I want to announce that the population of Igbo outside the Igbo enclave is about 11.6 million; you don’t play with the lives of 11.6 million people,” he had said.
“We all have to be careful: the press, the leadership at the state level and at the federal level; everybody. We are still working on stabilising and sustaining the fragile peace that we enjoy now.
“I swore with the Bible to protect lives and property; because I take such oath very seriously, I will continue to protect the lives and property of our brothers and sisters irrespective of where they come from.”
In an interview with Osasu Igbinedion on The Osasu Show, after the potential crisis of October 1 had been averted, Ikpeazu revealed that despite his position as the governor and chief security officer of Abia state, he was not privy to the incursion of the army in Abia state.
He said he had a letter that the military were coming for operation python dance on Friday, “but they decided to test their pieces of equipment on Sunday,” earlier than the agreed date. He added that he had discussions with high-profile military officers who assured him that the military will withdraw its troops from Abia State, only to be countered by the same military, less than 24 hours after.
Despite all the miscommunication and political underlining of the python’s dance, the governor knew he had only one job which he said “is to secure life and property of not only Abians but everybody that is doing business within the geographical space called Abia”.
“So at that time, I should protect even those agitating for an independent country called Biafra. I come from a part of the country where the lives and property of visitors within your gate is perhaps more important than your own life.
“My duty and my responsibility as at that day was to make sure that I avert bloodshed of monumental proportions.”
Nigeria’s recent political history teaches that as a governor in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — a party at variance with the party at the federal level — Ikpeazu was expected to politicize the crisis in favour of his political ambitions or that of his party. But rather than do that, he supported the proscription of IPOB, that peace may reign.
In all, I’m delighted that the October 1 doomsday prophecy is now behind us, but we all must work together towards a peaceful and united Nigeria.

He Opens Up About Bobbi Kristina Two Years After She Was Found Dead"Nick Gordon

Nick Gordon is speaking out two years after ex-girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown tragically passed and is addressing rumors that he was responsible for her death.

It was Gordon, 28, who found the 22-year-old face down in the bathtub after a night of partying and arguing and attempted to revive her in scenes that bore a chilling resemblance to the circumstances of her own mother, Whitney Houston's passing.

Brown's autopsy revealed she had marijuana, alcohol, a cocaine-related substance, anxiety medication, and morphine in her system, but her manner of death has been labeled 'undetermined' as they can't tell if it was intentional or accidental.

Gordon was held legally accountable for Bobbi Kristina's death in 2015 after he didn't show up for a court hearing in the $36million civil suit brought against him by her family.

For Bobbi Kristina, Gordon tells DailyMailTV, it was the beginning of a descent into drug use that spiraled out of control and ended in her death. For him it was the end of a relationship that has long perplexed observers.

Gordon was 17 and Bobbi Kristina 14 when Houston invited him to move into their home in Georgia.

His own mother, he said, 'wasn't very good' at the time. She had left the state to be with another man. He didn't want to go with her.

He had met Bobbi Kristina at school but both dropped out to be tutored at home after he moved in to the Houston household.

Recalling Houston he said: 'It was like two or three months after I moved in she began to ask me, "Call me mom."

'We immediately clicked. From day one it was a really, really cool relationship so I'll miss it forever.

'It was like a mother, son relationship. It really was.'

In a bizarre twist of fate Gordon was there at the Beverly Hills Hotel back in February 2012 when Houston drowned in her bathtub. She was later found to have cocaine in her system.

As for Bobbi Kristina she was like his 'little wing man' at first. Gordon described them as 'the three musketeers.'

And while Bobby Brown was 'busy creating his other family, his new family with his new wife,' Gordon claimed to have taken on the role of the man of the house - their 'protector.'

It was a role for which, in truth, he was ill equipped.

Emotionally and financially he said he was treated, 'like a prince,' though today he claims that he definitely gave more than he got - a statement on which he will not elaborate.

Throughout Houston's life both he and Bobbi Kristina received a monthly allowance, which, after her mother's death, Bobbi Kristina continued to pay to her then boyfriend.

But Gordon has always vehemently denied that that had anything to do with their romance.

He claimed that Houston wanted them to marry, telling them they should elope and that it was she who planted the seed of a relationship between them.

He said: 'Screw the money. I lost two people I loved. They could have the money; it's not even about that. Don't get me wrong, money's nice but it definitely doesn't buy you happiness. Maybe temporary happiness.'

For Bobbi Kristina there was, it seems, no true happiness after her mother's death.

Gordon said: 'Everything changed. She would cry and you know throughout all those nights I felt I couldn't do the same thing.

'So it was just all this built up emotion that I didn't get out as I'm sitting here trying to be strong for this person.'

After Houston's death Bobbi Kristina and Gordon told the family that they were married - though they were not.

Little did they know they were living on borrowed time.

According to Gordon, Bobbi Kristina tried to commit suicide on two occasions - cutting deeply into her wrists.

She suffered two miscarriages and self-harmed and both became lost in a haze of drugs.

Asked if he regrets anything or if he believes now that the best thing for Bobbi Kristina might have been for him to leave he said: 'If I had somebody tell me this would be a good thing for y'all to separate I would have tried that.

He said: 'The truth is, in my heart, I believe Krissy overdosed on drugs.'

And he wants both her and her mother's spirits to be at peace and to remember the 'beauty' of Whitney and Bobbi Kristina who he describes as his 'little Guardian angel.'

Today he is working as a landscaper, trying to plan for a future, he says, that contains marriage and children - maybe with Laura.

He wants his life to move on, he said, but he does not regret the day he accepted Whitney's invitation to come live with her and her daughter.

He said: 'I'm so happy I got to live with them and give them the little bit of happiness I could towards the end of their journey down here.

Forfeiture Of 56 Houses Linked To Diezani

The Federal High Court in Lagos today ordered the permanent forfeiture of 56 houses linked to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.
The houses, located in Lagos and Port Harcourt, were said to have been acquired by the ex-minister between 2011 and 2013 using front companies.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission claimed that Diezani paid  $21,982,224 for the properties, adding that it believed that the funds were proceeds of crime.

The anti-graft agency listed the properties to include 29 terraced houses comprising eight four-bedroomed penthouse apartments, six three-bedroomed apartments, two three-bedroomed maisonettes, two twin bedroomed apartments and one four-bedroom apartment. The permanent forfeiture order was made by Justice Abdulaziz Anka.

Mugabe Weakens Deputy

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has stripped his powerful deputy, Emmerson Mnangagwa, of the post of of justice minister, in what is seen as an attempt to weaken him as the battle to succeed the 93-year-old leader intensifies.

The move comes days after First Lady Grace Mugabe warned of a possible coup plot, and the other Vice-President, Phelekezela Mphoko, accused Mr Mnangagwa of lying when he alleged that he had been poisoned at a rally addressed by the president in August.

Mr Mnangagwa and Mrs Mugabe are said to head rival factions jostling to succeed Mr Mugabe when he steps down or dies.

The latest reshuffle is likely to increase the influence of the faction allied with Mrs Mugabe, some analysts say.

The justice ministry, key in overseeing general elections next year, has been given to head of intelligence and retired army general Happyton Bonyongwe.

For the first time, Mr Mugabe also appointed a minister of cyber security and threat detection, raising fears of a crackdown on social media.

FG was given 15days Ultimatum to Halt Planned Concession

The Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) and its ally, the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) have given the Federal Government a 15-day ultimatum to halt its planned concession of the four viable airports in the country.
The three aviation unions, while giving the ultimatum at a joint news briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, threatened to shut down the aviation industry if government failed to accede to their demands.
The federal government had initiated moves to concession the Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt Airports to enable them meet international standards.
However, the General Secretary of NUATE, Mr Olayinka Abioye, said the ultimatum was the unions’ last resolve to force the Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, to fully involve them in the concession process.
“Immediately at the expiration of the 15 days ultimatum, we are going to shut down the industry.“We want the minister to talk to us and share ideas with us on what they want to concession and how it will affect our members, “Abioye said.He maintained that previous concession agreements had not been beneficial as it had ended in series of litigations against the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) before various courts in the country.
Abioye added that the revenue collection points of FAAN such as toll gate, car parks, bill boards, fuel surcharges, shops and VIP
lounges were already under concession arrangements, adding that there was nothing left for the concession exercise.
He added that the unions were yet to be assured of the fate of the 6,285 staff and 4,124 pensioners of FAAN if the concession of the viable airports was allowed to proceed.

21,780 Pupils fail primary 4 Exam there is demand to employ over 25000 Teachers in kaduna

Kaduna Set To Employ 25,000 New Teachers After 21,780 Others Failed “Primary 4 Exam”
The Kaduna State Government has unveiled plans to employ 25,000 new primary school teachers as parts of efforts to restore dignity and quality to its education sector.
This is after about 21,780 out of 33,000 teachers failed the primary four test administered to test their competence by the State government.
Governor Nasir el-Rufai of the State made this known on Monday when he received a World Bank delegation in his office in Kaduna.
He explained that the recruitment is now necessary due to the acute shortage of qualified primary school teachers in the state.

The governor stated that his administration would disengage about 20,000 unqualified primary school teachers to restore confidence in public schools.
His words: “We tested our 33,000 primary school teachers, we gave them primary four exams and required they must get at least 75 per cent but am sad to announce that 66 per cent of them failed to get the requirements.“The hiring of teachers in the past was politicized and we intend to change that by bringing in young and qualified primary school teachers to restore the dignity of education in the state.”He stressed that teachers would be redeployed across the state to balance the issue of teacher-pupil ratio.
“We have a challenge with the teacher-pupil ratio in the urban schools; there is concentration of teachers that are not needed.‘’In some LGAs, it’s a teacher pupil ratio of 1-9 while in some places it’s 1-100,” he said. The governor said that in a bid to improve the education sector, the school Directors decided to enroll their children in public schools starting from this academic session.

Asuu Rejects one month salary given to them:LAUTECH

LAUTECH Announces Dates For Resumption, Examination After 8 Months Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other workers’ unions at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, (LAUTECH) have rejected the resolve by the school’s Governing Council to pay workers only one month’s salary out of the 12 months being owed.
The Chairman of the Joint Action Committee of the university, Alhaji Muraina Alesinloye, who led workers to the meeting held between the JAC and the Governing Council, said the workers insisted that the university should pay at least three months’ salaries.
The Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, who doubles a former Head of Service of the Federation and was represented at the meeting by a member of the council, Prof. Olaide Adedokun, was quoted to have said that the council had approved the payment of one month salary to all workers through cheques.
Alesinloye said the JAC, which comprised the Senior Staff Union of Universities, the Non-Academic Staff Union and National Association of Academic Technicians, also said their members would not collect their salaries via cheques.
He said, “The Governing Council held a meeting with us today Monday and Prof. Adedokun, who represented the Chairman of the Council, Prof. Oladapo Afolabi, said the council had agreed to pay us one month’s salary now and pay another month on October 20 and pay the third month before the end of October.“But we said no. They are owing us 12 months’ salaries and the people, who have been selling things to us on credit, are now insisting that we should pay what we are owing because government had paid us six months’ salaries.”In September, the management of LAUTECH had directed the lecturers, workers and the students of the university to resume after over eight months’ forced holiday.
After the directive, the workers’ unions in the university said they were not aware of the resumption of the institution, which was then scheduled for Friday, September 15, and as such would not obey the directive of the university authorities.

Deploying land mines, technical s and machine-gun fire at close range, militants loyal to the outlawed Boko Haram (ISIS franchise) caught government soldiers completely off-guard in what ended up being a de facto massacre.
