Former Zimbabwean leader Robert Mugabe died from cancer after chemotherapy treatment was stopped because it was no longer effective, a state-owned newspaper quoted President Emmerson Mnangagwa as saying, the first time the government has given the cause of his death.
Mugabe, who led Zimbabwe to independence and crushed his foes during nearly four decades of rule that impoverished his country, died on 6 September aged 95 in Singapore.
Mnangagwa told ruling party supporters in New York where he is attending this week's United Nations General Assembly that Mugabe had cancer, but he did not disclose the type.

The University of Ibadan, UI, on Saturday released the cut-off marks of all courses for 2019/2020 admission with Medicine and Surgery maintaining the highest merit cut-off point of 78.87 percent with the score for the Educationally Less Developed States, ELDS, standing at 78.37 percent.

Food Network star and celebrity chef Carl Ruiz has died and this is according to his closest friends in the industry.
Carl reportedly passed away Saturday night of a suspected heart attack, so says his pal and social media personality, Matt Farah. Matt also said Carl died peacefully in his sleep.
Guy Fieri also commented on Carl's death, writing on Twitter ... "I’m heartbroken that my friend chef Carl Ruiz is gone. I have no words to describe what a great friend he was to me and my family.

Man dies while proposing to girl friend inside water

A Louisiana man drowned while trying to make an underwater marriage proposal to his girlfriend while the couple was on vacation.

Steven Weber Jr., of Baton Rouge, died this week while proposing to his girlfriend Kenesha Antoine underwater while in Tanzania.

Antoine, an attorney, posted about the tragic accident on her Facebook page early Friday with photos and videos of the proposal.


She wrote: 'There are no words adequate enough to honor the beautiful soul that is Steven Weber, Jr. You were a bright light to everyone you encountered.'

'You never emerged from those depths, so you never got to hear my answer, “Yes! Yes! A million times, yes, I will marry you!!".'

'We never got to embrace and celebrate the beginning of the rest of our lives together, as the best day of our lives turned into the worst, in the cruelest twist of fate imaginable.'

Yahaya Abdullahi sees nothing wrong in purchasing vehicles with 5.5billion

The leader of the Senate, Yahaya Abdullahi, sees nothing wrong in the purchasing of  vehicles for the senate members of the 9th assembly.
According to Leadership Newspaper, the Senator said people are just being mischievous adding that there is no way you can give people responsibilities in the National Assembly and then you expect them to come and work with their cars.
“Ministers are given official cars, not just one car. In some cases, the ministers that never run for any election get three to four cars. There are directors who have more than three or four jeeps at their disposal.
 I was a Perm Sec, so I know what obtains in government. So for someone to come out and say, a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should not be given an ordinary Jeep is wrong.
 I think that is an insult. People do not really appreciate the role Senators play in the national polity. This issue of cars is a mischievous or complete lack of appreciation of the work that senators do.

Several of these senators are the ones ensuring that they provide water for their communities because the local governments in most states are no longer functioning,” he said.
According to Abdullahi, a lot of the local governments have collapsed, adding that it is through constituency projects that some communities see water to drink and roads to use.
“It is an insult to say that a senator of the Federal Republic cannot ride a jeep in Nigeria. It is an insult. I know what ministers get; we cannot even compare ourselves to ministers because we are higher than the minister(s).
For you to say that a senator of the Federal Republic cannot drive a jeep today — come on, that is an insult. Go and tell the people that the work that we do is more than the work of ministers,” he added.
