First Generation schools’ Principals visit QC for assessment

Kofoworola Belo-Osagie
Seven principals of first generation secondary schools in Lagos state have visited Queen’s College to verify the claims of epidemic in the 92-year old girls’ only secondary school.
The principals, under the umbrella of the Lagos First Generation Heritage Colleges Association (LAFGHECA), were led by the founding chairman of the association, Otunba Dele Olapeju, also the former principal of King’s College Lagos.
The delegates of the association, which comprises of the oldest public and missionary secondary schools in Lagos State, came to the school from the group’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at King’s College.

The delegation included the principal, CMS Grammar School, Revd Sunday Sofekun; Principal, St Finbarrs High School, Mr Victor Biyibi, who was elected LAFGHECA Chairman on Thursday; Principal, Ansar U-Deen Girls’ High School, Itire, Mrs Sherifat Mohammed; Principal, Ansar U-Deen College, Isolo, Mr Tajudeen Adebambo; Principal, Western College, Yaba, Olusegun Olamoyesun, and Principal, Ansar-U-Deen Grammar School, Randle, Surulere, Mr Habeeb Badru.
After a session with the Principal of Queen’s College, Mrs Tokunbo Yakubu-Oyinloye, the visitors asked to see the sick bay to confirm if indeed many girls were ill.
Mrs Yakubu-Oyinloye said there was no epidemic, adding that the girls who had flu had been allowed to go home to treat themselves.
She said: “We don’t have any epidemic in the college. What we had were some students with flu, which we have been told is prevalent around this period and seems to be all over Lagos. But I do not know why someone decided to plant fake news in the press.
“But I thank God, the Ministry of Health have been here – LUTH, LASUTH, Epidemiologists and others. You must have seen their press release inside the papers– where they said it has nothing to do with water, or food. That is upper respiratory tract. It does not have anything to do with what happened in 2017.
“Some children were sent home because some of them do not use drugs. So that they can get individualized care and minimize the sneezing, the touching of each other – we sent them home.”
Principal of Western College, Olamoyesun, said he was glad there was no epidemic as the incident of 2017 water-borne disease which left three pupils of Queen’s College dead, affected his school.
“Our school is close to Queen’s College so when I heard of the rumour, I had to drive down. But I thanked God when I saw children trooping in and out,” he said.
Otunba Olapeju said after going round, he had debunked the epidemic claim, attributing it to mischievous elements. He said the LAFGHECA principals were in solidarity with Mrs Oyinloye-Yakubu.
“Everything is cool, calm and collected. The epidemic is a figment of somebody’s wide and riotous imagination. The only thing leadership requires is courage to confront negative news, fake news – say it as it is,” he said

Tips to get that your dream figure

General Tips

1. Eliminate Soda and Alcohol – Regular soda is loaded with calories and offers no nutritional value.  so it’s best to steer clear of it, as well. Alcohol has not only been associated with excess belly fat, but it can also lead to unhealthy food choices. If you want to tighten your waist, you must avoid these things.
2.
Drink Plenty of Water – Staying hydrated should be the main priority for anyone, but especially for those that are participating in a fitness routine. Drink a full glass of cool water when you first wake up to get your metabolism cranking. It’s also recommended that you drink another full glass before every meal to keep yourself from overindulging.
As you lose weight, your body will also require more water to flush out extra toxins. Staying hydrated will keep you from retaining water as well, which will reduce any “fluffiness” in your abdomen. A general rule of thumb is to drink at least 64 ounces of water daily, but feel free to drink even more!
3. Eat Clean and Avoid Processed Foods – What do we mean by “clean” food? Clean foods generally refer to whole foods that are as close as possible to their natural state. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and lean meats are the most commonly consumed clean foods.
These healthy choices are packed full of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that your body needs to lose weight and firm-up. Processed foods should be avoided, as they are typically much more calorie-dense and offer little-to-no nutritional value.

How to prevent Sexually transmitted disease

Health as usually said is wealth cause a wealthy man  is healthy and if you aint healthy your wealth will not be enjoyed so this are the necessay and important things to do often to live long.

Diagnosis

Tests

If your sexual history and current signs and symptoms suggest that you have a sexually transmitted disease (STD) or a sexually transmitted infection (STI), laboratory tests can identify the cause and detect coinfections you might also have.

  • Blood tests. Blood tests can confirm the diagnosis of HIV or later stages of syphilis.
  • Urine samples. Some STIs can be confirmed with a urine sample.
  • Fluid samples. If you have open genital sores, your doctor may test fluid and samples from the sores to diagnose the type of infection.

Screening

Screening is usually done t someone without anyform of disease.Sti screening is not usually a routine part of health care

  • Everyone. The one STI screening test suggested for everyone ages 13 to 64 is a blood or saliva test for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the virus that causes AIDS. Experts recommend that people at high risk have an HIV test every year.

BBnaija:Omoshola wins Week 14 Arena Game

Big Brother Naija Week 14 Arena Game

Omoshola emerges winner of the week 14 arena game here is the break down of the housemate's completion time and how he won the game.

The Challenge

Themed football, the Task was a showcase of dribbling and kicking skills. You bet, the top five Arena Games players did not slack to impress us with their skills. Here’s how it went down.
The six phases of the Task were designed to show us the Housemates’ football skills. There were dribbling, kicking and running all of which are required skills as a good footballer.
In alphabetical order, Frodd went first, showing us his dribbling and kicking skills. He finished in 1 minute 16 seconds.
Then came Omashola with his ‘Warri…street’ mantra. Well, this time his chant was for nothing, as he beat Frodd by completing the Task in just 58 seconds.

Microsoft’s folding phone and dual-screen laptops

The Surface Pro X, the Surface Pro 7, the Surface Laptop 3 in 13.5-inch and 15-inch sizes, and the Surface Earbuds are new products of Microsoft announced on Wednesday that will be shipped this holiday season.
The two others, the Surface Neo computer, and the Surface Duo phone, are expected to be out next year. While Microsoft demonstrated them, we weren’t able to touch them or put them through their paces.
I had a chance to check out this year’s products. Here’s what you need to know:
 Surface laptop 3

Hear me out — I think this computer might be better than Apple’s latest MacBooks, and the main reason is the keyboard. It’s awesome and provides a much smoother typing surface than the MacBook Air (which I’m using right now). I also love that Microsoft ditched the soft fabric material on some models, instead of adding aluminum to the whole area around the keyboard. It looks sharp.
Plus, there’s an even larger trackpad, on par with a MacBook, more ports than Apple’s computers and a touchscreen. I love Apple devices, but this computer starts at $999 and it packs a punch. I prefer the 13.5-inch model to the 15-inch option because it’s more portable.
I’ll know more when I sit down for my final review, but I already think these offer better value than Apple’s current crop of laptops. Keep in mind, however, that Apple may launch a 16-inch MacBook Pro this fall, so Microsoft may not have the throne for long.
 Surface Pro X
I wish this was the Surface Pro 7. I’m a big fan of the slimmer design and the screen that runs almost edge-to-edge. I love that it promises 13 hours of battery life and cellular connectivity. The pen that hides right in the keyboard fold is really convenient. But it’s thin for a reason: this runs on a new SQ1 ARM-based processor that Microsoft built with Qualcomm. That means it’s running Windows for ARM instead of a full-blown version of Windows that can run all of the apps you know and love.

Microsoft has struggled to get more traditional Windows apps to work on the ARM version of Windows, but the company appears confident that developers will fill the gap with apps that people need. Adobe has been one partner on this front. I’ll need to wait until my full review to see. At $999, I want this device to run all of my apps.
 Surface Pro 7

There are three big updates here. The Surface Pro 7 can charge quickly (up to 90% in about an hour), it has a new USB-C port for attaching modern peripherals and it’s faster than last year’s model thanks to Intel’s 10th-generation chip. The design hasn’t changed much, but that’s OK. I still like the detachable keyboard, which is easy to navigate, and the really portable form factor. I just wish Microsoft would include the keyboard in its $799 starting price.
Surface Earbuds
They also look silly, like I tried to stuff two bottle caps in my ears. At least it includes USB-C for charging, instead of micro USB like Amazon’s new buds. In general, though, these feel like they should cost $99, not $250. Maybe we’ll get a break before they ship ahead of the holidays.

Tim Cook Apples CEO slams Trump’s immigration policy in Supreme Court filing

On the decision of President Trump to terminated DACA the Obama era program, which covers some immigrants without documentation from being deported was disagreed by Apple CEO Tim Cook.
″We are distressed at the prospect of ripping our DACA colleagues from the fabric of our company,” Cook and HR head Deidre O’Brien wrote in a friend-of-the-court brief. Apple said it employs 443 dreamers or people that DACA protects from deportation.
The Trump administration’s effort to terminate DACA is part of a broader effort to restrict immigration, whether it’s through family separation at the U.S.-Mexico border or the imposition of a travel ban from several majority Muslim countries to the U.S. DACA and other immigration topics remain a national focus and are likely to be core issues during the 2020 presidential campaign.
DACA deportations could cost the US economy over $400 billion, according to a 2017 study. Amazon, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft also oppose Trump’s policies.

A woman burns steps daughters private part

A 38-year-old woman, identified as Hauwa Adamu, has been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Borno for allegedly dropping flaming charcoal in the private parts of her seven-year-old stepdaughter.
Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim, the NSCDC Commandant, told a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Maiduguri that the case was reported to the command by good Samaritans, and that the woman was captured in the Moduganari area of Maiduguri.
Ibrahim stated that Adamu allegedly meted out terrible acts of punishment on the minor, over what she called disobedience.
According to him, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect subjected the girl to different forms of abuse. Ibrahim said that the girl was put under the suspect’s care sequel to the separation of her parents.
He added that the case had been transferred to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, for further investigation and action.
This is really a huge maltreatment to the step daughter this should be a form of lesson to other mothers out there that dont value children that are not theres and in that end up condemning anothers life out of hatred.
